Structure and Properties of Rod Suspension Composite insulators

The composite insulator is composed of umbrella sleeve, mandrel and hardware at both ends. For products of 110kV and below, no voltage equalizing ring is provided, and products of 220kV and above are equipped with 1-2 voltage equalizing rings. A pressure equalizing ring can also be equipped according to user needs.

1. Umbrella tray made of high molecular polymer with silicone rubber as matrix has the advantages of good hydrophobicity, corrosion resistance, aging resistance and so on. It can effectively prevent the occurrence of pollution flashover accidents, reduce manual cleaning, and avoid zero-value maintenance, which provides a reliable guarantee for the safe operation of transmission lines.

2. The core rod is made of glass fiber reinforced resin rod, which has high tensile strength (>1100Mpa), which is about 1.5 to 2 times that of ordinary steel, and 3 to 5 times that of high-strength porcelain. In addition, the mandrel also has good vibration damping, creep resistance and fatigue fracture resistance.


3. The connection between the hardware and the mandrel adopts a non-damaged mechanical crimping connection, which is the most advanced connection method in the world today. The advantages are: the connection is safe and reliable, the crimping stress is evenly distributed, the integrity of the glass fiber bundle of the mandrel is not damaged, and the excellent characteristics of high tensile strength can be fully exerted.

4. The grading ring can improve the electric field distribution, reduce corona and radio interference, and protect the umbrella skirt from being burned out in the event of a strong arc. The effect is more significant for composite insulators with high voltage levels.

5. The Composite insulator is compact in structure, small in size, light in weight (1/7 to 1/10 of the same level of porcelain insulator strings), has good elasticity, and does not require regular cleaning. Therefore, it not only brings great convenience to transportation and installation, but also greatly reduces the amount of maintenance and saves a lot of maintenance costs, reduces the labor intensity of workers, and provides good conditions for accident maintenance and the implementation of compact lines.

6. Composite insulators are produced by integral injection molding production process. The umbrella cover has a beautiful appearance, few interfaces, the mandrel and the sheath are firmly bonded without gaps, and the internal insulation performance is good, which can avoid the phenomenon of interface breakdown.
